Hi, I'm Tammy Kolins

Meet The Skinny Gourmet
Can you eat the foods you love without the sugar, fat and calories? Yes, you can. After years of catering to everyone’s dietary needs, I was nicknamed The Skinny Gourmet. We are literally what we eat. I decided long ago, that I was not going to fall victim to these types of diseases because I ate too much of the wrong things. Since obesity runs in my family and heart disease runs in my husband’s, I created a style of cooking that enabled us to eat lighter, to eat well and still eat the foods we love. My skinny approach is—"cooking with a conscience". First off, I want to set your mind at ease and clear up a misconception about cooking healthy. This is not about health food. This is about real food. The kind of food people eat every day. I cook everything from pastas, like my scrumptious almost fat free fettucini Alfredo to my decadent dark chocolate fudge cake with homemade chocolate sauce. Everything doesn’t have to be fat free and sugar free. It’s about balance.
I have cooked for many people and they are amazed at my results. The way I cook and the way I view food is not a passing fad. It is my lifestyle. I want to show you how you can cut down on unhealthy, unnecessary ingredients and replace them with body friendly alternatives. By simply learning how to do this, you can eat well and still enjoy your favorite dishes. My goal is to make "Cooking The Skinny Gourmet Way" an adventure in food. It’s got to be fun and it’s got to be something people can incorporate into their every day. I love everything about food. It is my passion. Food is part of my heart, my soul and my being. This is what I do and I want to pass that onto you. I look forward to sharing some of my favorite skinny recipes with you. Believe me when I say food never tasted this good. You too can be a Skinny Gourmet by
I admit it. I am a food fanatic. I love to eat and I love to cook.
For ten years, I owned and operated my own restaurant, The Great Impasta, La Trattoria & Pasta Market in Danville, California. During that time I wrote a monthly food column.
Shortly after opening my restaurant, my son was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes when he was ten years old. With that, my cooking changed forever to accommodate for his disease and his desire for kid things.
To expand my food repertoire, I took numerous courses at the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco and the Culinary Institute of America in St. Helena, California.
Eight years ago, I started a company called Bonkers Performance Teas. We created a line of functional hot teas that help you feel your optimal best everyday. Our most popular line is our Super Skinny teas. These support weight loss with only healthy and effective ingredients, no laxatives. We distribute Bonkers Performance Teas across the United States in popular grocery stores. For more information and where to buy them go to www.bonkerstea.com.
Today, two thirds of adult Americans are overweight. In addition, a large percentage of our children are also overweight. Because Americans have put themselves in this position, we are faced with diabetes, heart disease and other illnesses associated with obesity.
I have reworked hundreds of recipes over the years to make them "skinny". My goal is to show you how you too can do this with your favorite recipes.
